Destiny Udogie has been hailed by Udinese teammate Lazar Samardzic as he prepares to finally start his Tottenham Hotspur career.
Tottenham Hotspur fans have been given another glowing verdict on incoming talent Destiny Udogie.
Spurs actually showed a rare example of being ahead of the curve last summer.
Tottenham’s recruitment has been disappointing for years now but Fabio Paratici was onto something with Udogie.
Tottenham pounced early to secure a deal worth £15million rising to £18million for Udogie last summer.
Spurs allowed Udogie to stay with Udinese for the 2022-23 season before finally moving to North London.
Tottenham were therefore able to beat the competition to his signature rather than wait a year and see other club join the race.
Udogie was also able to keep playing and developing in Italy, hopefully making him a more rounded play when the start of his Spurs career.
Udogie played 2624 minutes across 32 Serie A appearances this season, bagging three goals and four assists.
It’s hard to imagine that the 20-year-old would have received nearly as much playing time at Spurs this season, so the move has worked out well for all.
Tottenham talent Destiny Udogie hailed as ‘amazing player’
An attack-minded left wing back, Udogie may have a chance to earn considerable minutes early on at Tottenham.
Ivan Perisic’s move hasn’t really worked out and Ryan Sessegnon’s future is up in the air.
Udogie is still raw but he has real talent – and has now been hailed by Udinese teammate Lazar Samardzic.
The Serbian midfielder has been speaking to The Italian Football Podcast and was asked about teammate Udogie.
Samardzic offered up huge praise, suggesting that Udogie is the best left back in Serie A right now.
That means Samardzic rates Udogie even higher than the likes of Mario Rui, Alex Sandro, Federico Dimarco and even Theo Hernandez.
Samardzic predicts that Udogie will become an ‘important’ player at Tottenham next season, hailing the youngster as a simply ‘amazing player’.
“Udo, for me, is the best left back in Serie A,” said Samardzic. “He can do everything and at Tottenham I think he will be an important player next year, so yeah – he’s an amazing player,” he added.
