In the latest development, former Royal Challengers Bangalore fast bowler ABu Nechim has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket.
For the unversed, he also played for Mumbai Indians in the cash-rich Indian Premier League. Earlier, the Assam paceman also played for India U19 men’s team in his journey.
Overall, he has played 17 games in the Indian Premier League. The right-arm fast-medium bowler accounted for 12 dismissals, registering his best bowling figures of 2/13.
The 34-year-old has played 68 matches in his first-class career. Overall, he took as many as 172 wickets to his name including 9 five-wicket-hauls.
On the other hand, he took 65 wickets in 61 appearances in List A cricket including one five-wicket-haul. The veteran has played as many as 80 matches in his T20 career. He had an economy of 5.07.
The Guwahati-born cricketer took 78 wickets to his name, registering his personal best score of 4/21. He scored two fifties in First Class cricket and one fifty in List A cricket.
Abu Nechim calls it quits from all forms of the game
Nechim scored 1284 runs in first-class cricket wherein he aggregated 490 runs in List A cricket. As far as the T20 format is concerned, he scored 241 runs to his name.
He made his first-class debut for the Assam cricket team as a 17-year-old. After making a good impression with the ball, he made it to the India U19 team and picked figures of 4/14.
He drew appreciation for his terrific swing bowling performances in the 2006 Men’s U19 World Cup semifinal versus England. After that, he finished the U19 level with an impressive 6/9 in the final of a tri-series versus Bangladesh.
In his retirement statement, he mentioned that he would want to thank Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore for their much-needed support and assistance.
“I would also like to thank the two IPL franchises Mumbai Indians and RCB for their support. It has been a wonderful journey of playing the sport and learning from every ups and downs that came up in the last 23 years, at various and different levels,” he said.
“Finally, I would like to thank my family and all well-wishers who have been with me throughout this wonderful journey,” the veteran added in a statement.
